Review: Beckett Simonon Leather Desk Pads
2020 has come and gone. But something that came to light out of that complicated year was the need to work from home (WFH). The balancing act of life and work is something that we’re all trying to figure out and I think having flexible work arrangements is definitely a step towards the right direction.
But setting up a home office at home isn’t a luxury we all have, with space being a huge limiting factor for most people. You might be lucky enough to have a spare room to set up a small home office situation. Or you could even move some furniture around and rezone that small unused space as a ‘study nook’. For most people though, the kitchen table becomes a multipurpose piece of furniture where you attend meetings and manage your bandwidth but later it’s where you’ll be eating and enjoying your sandwich.
Whatever your setup is, adding a desk pad can elevate your workspace or even help change the context of a dining table to an office desk. We used Beckett Simonon Leather Desk Pads at our WFH setups and we’re loving them.

The Spare Room Home Office
With a workspace this large, we used the black leather desk pad. It’s size allowed us to have a keyboard and both a trackpad and mouse. The desk pad doubles as a huge mouse pad, but also provides a space for your most used items. We’ve got a ruler, pens and an external hard drive within arms reach. While my watch and wallet have a place to rest for the workday.
The Study Nook
This was a slightly smaller space, but since it was near a window the tan leather desk pad was an easy choice. Front and centre we’ve got a full sized keyboard and a trackpad. A notepad and pen close by when hand written notes are needed. Again my wallet and watch aren’t far away if I need to grab them.
The Dining Table
The hot desk of your home. The dining table needs to be able to be set up and packed up quickly so you can eat and work in the same space. We slap the brown leather desk pad on our kitchen table when it’s time to work. It’s not practical to always have an external monitor on this ‘desk’ so a laptop directly on the desk pad works great. Ergonomically, we’d recommend a laptop stand in combination with an external keyboard and mouse. Your back will thank you later. There’s enough space to have a cup of coffee or tea while you’re working away too, no need for coasters here.
Are They Affordable?
$159 USD for a desk pad can be considered expensive, but for a full grain leather desk pad, the price is right. They do go on sale every now and then so keep an eye out.
You could definitely get other desk pads that aren’t leather that will practically do the same job. But the leather desk pads from Beckett Simonon look and feel amazing and being full grain leather, they’re likely to look better with age.
I like desk pads in general, they can help keep a work area organised. They can transform a dining space into an office. But best of all you can hide paper underneath and keep your desk from looking too cluttered.
