Review: Cultiver Linen Fitted Sheet & Duvet Set
Linen sheets, ever slept in them? Nope, me neither.
If you’re like me, you’ve been sleeping on cotton sheets most of your life. And that means you’ve probably never even thought about treating yourself to linen sheets at all.
I just moved into a new house and with that comes loads of decisions and research. Tiles or carpet? Blinds or curtains? Top or front load washing machine? The list goes on.
But when it came to sheets, I stumbled into the world of Cotton vs Linen. And I thought now was a brilliant time to give linen sheets a go.
Cultiver made it easy to choose what I wanted using their Build Your Own Fitted Sheet and Duvet Set page. They had heaps of options to mix and match with. But I keep it simple with an olive fitted sheet and a natural duvet set.

The Look
Let’s get one thing out of the way, I’ve got a double sized mattress with a queen sized quilt. I’d recommend everyone to upsize their quilt from their mattress. There’s way less chance of a blanket thief stealing all of the covers at night and it looks very plush. Anyway, since there wasn’t a double fitted sheet available, I went with a queen sized fitted sheet and duvet cover.
Now that that’s out of the way, the sheets from Culitver look amazing. They were also packaged beautifully too. Both the fitted sheet and the duvet set came in its own linen bag.
The linen itself is visually pleasing, with the natural fibre creating a wrinkles that are more organic rather than messy.
Once fitted on the bed, the sheets definitely invoke a cosy feeling. While I’m sure in summer it will look much more airy when I’m not using the quilt.
The Feel
It’s coarse but in a good way. Cultiver say their sheets are prewashed, which definitely makes them softer than some linen shirts I’ve worn. But I don’t think they’re as soft as cotton sheets out of the box. But I’m sure they’ll soften with wear and more washes.
Some people might prefer the smoothness of silky or high thread count sheets, I personally don’t like the slipperiness of them. So I love the feel of sleeping on linen. And it’s not something easily described.
Because the fabric is so breathable, it feels light and airy but cosy at the same time.
Because linen fibres are thicker and stronger than cotton, the sheets feel less delicate and more robust. They should also be quite durable over many washes. I’ll update this review if I have any issues after several washes, but after a few, they’re no issues to be seen.
Is it Affordable?
No doubt, $545AUD isn’t a small amount to spend on sheets. But if they last longer or you enjoy sleeping on them more, then you could definitely justify the purchase.
If you get more uses out of sheets that you love, they’re definitely worth the money. We spend a third of our life sleeping. So I think it’s definitely worth splurging on a great mattress, pillows and sheets.
Will you love sleeping on linen? I guess that’s up to you at the end of the day, but I’d recommend trying it. And Cultiver was a great place for me to try my first set of linen sheets and I’m loving them.
Note: Cultiver was kind enough to provide the linen sheets for me to review. This is not a paid ad, but an honest review.
