Aimé Leon Dore (ALD) started in 2014, but probably hit my radar around 2019ish with its New Balance Collaborations and since then I’ve loved seeing the lookbooks they put out each season. Their calculated smashing of streetwear and menswear can be divisive for some, but I’m all for it.
But alas, besides a pair of sneakers, I don’t actually own any clothes from ALD. Price and hype both being limiting factors. And being in lockdown for 6 weeks (and counting) I thought I’d try and recreate some of their looks with clothes in my wardrobe.
Now this isn’t an exact match for each and every piece in their lookbooks. I picked a bunch of fits to recreate the essence of what I saw in the photos. I thought it might be fun to see my clothes in combinations I’ve never tried before and I was pleasantly surprised with how they turned out. The only thing I bought were a couple of New Era Yankees caps that I had been eyeing for a while and this was the perfect excuse to buy them.
